Antivirus protection is important, but setting up essential security protocols can be complicated. We make it easy. What can you do to make sure that you’re protected? Read on.

New threats and attacks to computer security are constantly being reported by the major news agencies. Hackers are incredibly sophisticated and are a very real threat to your company’s security.

We take security threats very seriously and recommend using ESET NOD32 Antivirus software to protect your system.

ESET offers some advanced features that the run of the mill antivirus software just can’t compete with. It not only does the job of removing malware, it also works to actively protect you from attacks.

If you are one of our clients that is receiving protection from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, and your ESET antivirus detects a threat, then ESET automatically creates a ticket for us alerting us to any new threats so that we can double check that your system is clean and potentially prevent further attacks from that source.

It’s like having a live-in bodyguard protecting your computer.

This software also offers the bonus of a scanner that checks for malware in your computer’s firmware. Firmware is permanent software that is programmed into a read-only memory file on your computer. So, if any sophisticated attacks want to bypass average antivirus software, a good place for them to hide is in your firmware. ESET NOD32 Antivirus brings them out into the open.

There are also a host of other available features for us on the backend that allow us to better safeguard your systems and bring you peace of mind regarding your security.

So, what can you do to make sure that your system is secure? If you’re receiving your virus protection from RHYNO, than you’re already set.

If you’re not working with us to secure your system, here are some very important things you should do:

  • Keep your antivirus software updated. Those little pop-ups asking you if you’d like to update your antivirus software can be annoying, and it’s common to quickly close the boxes to get them out of the way, but new threats are constantly being introduced. Antivirus software creators must put out constant updates to their software in order to keep their users protected against the ever changing new threats.
  • Scan your system regularly. Some antivirus software doesn’t actively protect against threats, and the virus will only be detected after a scan is run. Run a scan at least once a month so that your software has the chance to notice anything that might have slipped by.
  • Don’t click links in e-mails. It can be difficult to tell if an email is truly coming from someone you know and isn’t being spoofed. Unless you’re certain that the sender’s email is the email address of someone you know and you’re expecting to receive that attachment, it’s important not to click any links or open any accompanying attachments. This is one of the most commons ways for your system to get infected.
  • Do not click on scareware. Scareware usually comes up as a flashing banner or web page pop-up that says you’re infected and has a number to call for help. Don’t click on any links in those pop-ups and do not call the number. Call us at RHYNO Networks instead, if you need help.
  • Avoid scam callers. Another common way for your system to get infected is from scam callers that say they’re from Microsoft and warn you that your computer is infected. Do not give them access to your computer; hang up and run your antivirus software if you’re worried that you might be infected.

Remember, if an individual system gets infected, it could end up compromising the security of the server, potentially allowing that threat to affect the computers connected to that server.

As always, if you have any concerns, give us a call here at RHYNO Networks and we’ll help you make sure that your system is secure. (855) 749-6648
